shalom house dinner event

The Shalom House is a shelter that provides temporary housing and "life changing support" to the homeless women of St. Louis. They provide various programs to women who are: in need of emergency housing, chronically homeless, or are suffering from mental illness. Visit here: www.shalomhousestl.org

I had a very special opportunity to photograph for this very important organization this month, thanks to Marcy Bursac, the Development Director. The Shalom House hosted a silent and live auction dinner as a fundraiser at the Missouri Athletic Club. The event was held in the "Missouri Room," a regal chandelier lit dinning hall. I hadn't shot an even like this in a long time, so I had a little "stage fright" at first, but once I got shooting, I felt a much better.

The people that I met that night, both inside and outside of the organization, had warm spirits and humble hearts. Good people, most of which objected to having their photograph taken. I've never seen so many camera shy people in one room before. It must have to do with their desire to help others, quietly and genuinely, while staying out of the spotlight.

My good friend, Michael.
